Me and my girlfriend stayed here for 5 days in march-09 and was pleasantly surprised to say the least. It's not located directly at the beach (only downside, but it's a small one) but there's a shuttle bus leaving every hour to a nice beach, and it only takes about 10 minutes. The sun chairs there are free and you get a towel.

The food at the hotel was the best we've ever had in Thailand! Especially the "western" food which is kinda strange because it's usually bad. You have to try the "pasta carbonara", delicious! And the breakfast buffe was great, lots of fruit, omelets and so on.

The rooms are decorated with a dark wooden color and were very nice and clean with AC and TV. The pool area was also beautiful, a somewhat big pool surrounded by a lush garden, and there's a pool bar! They also have a gym which we used a couple of times, nice and up to date.

The staff is what made our stay so good, they are so friendly, greeting you, always cleaning to keep the place top notch.

We would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a great place to stay while in Koh Chang. We also got a pretty good rate so don't be afraid to ask them.

I recently spent five nights at the Ramayana hotel in Koh Chang. The hotel has many rooms but is still very calm and quiet. The rooms are spread out in a lovely manicured tropical garden. Though the pool itself is quite nice, the pool area is very average and gets easily overcrowded. There is a pool bar (food and drinks) and the hotel proposes massages at a reasonable cost (unlike many other hotels).

The dining area is very charming and the prices also are very much contained. Fresh seafood and fresh draught chang beer (nice touch!). There is a gym which could and definitely should be complemented with more workout machines. The hotel also has a SPA but I did not use it. The hotel does not have direct access to the beach but offers a shuttle every hour back and forth from the beach (5 mn drive from the hotel). In addition there are a few restaurants near the beach which can allow a little variety.

Therefore if you want to spend a couple of very quiet and relaxing days, this is a perfect hotel for you. Don't expect a lot of entertainement though. If you prefer a more lively environement, I wouldn't choose the Ramayana unless you are prepared to use the taxis or rent a motorbike to get around.

resort was beautiful and well maintained. there was an abundance of staff - all very polite and friendly and helpful. stayed 4 nights, only went on bus to beach once, and it was very nice. lots of activities to do on the island and they all included being picked up at resort which was great. food in evenings was disappointing, but it was easy to get a taxi from front to white sand beach or other more busier spots for meals at night. the pool was lovely, gardens beautiful. good selection at breakfast. in very quiet area, so suitable for relaxing getaway.

Admittedly, the hotel is not on the beach and the neighborhood could be livlier - depending on what kind of holiday you are looking for - but those are the only negative things I can say about it. Otherwise, the surroundings are beautiful, the staff outstanding in their helpfullness and friendliness, the food is great, the rooms are nice and very clean....I hardly spotted ONE mosquito during my 5 days there. Recommended!

the official website stated clearly that it's not on the beach and the offer for free shuttle bus to/from the beach every hour seemed ok at first, but i still found it a little disappointing. it's VERY far the beach and you might wonder if you are being on an island or a jungle. there's no percentage to walk to the beach and even worse that no local restaurants/pubs nearby. you need to ask a transport from
the resort every time and that's unnecessarily cost if ever you chose the right hotel in the right location at first

the resort was set amongst rush gardens.the pool was small but pretty nice. i also enjoyed driving a golf cart of the hotel when i got bored. the room was spacious enough and well furnished, just like what you really see from the website but not bright enough, especially at the balcony at night. there were also many flies and mosquitoes that i had to keep the door shut all the time. the bathroom was small anyway but i was not fussy to this

the breakfast was good with varieties of food. so a few nights here was quite ok but i would hesitate to spend a week or more at this resort.

This resort is not on the beach but is a really pleasant and beautiful place to chill out. The staff were really helpful and nothing was too much for them. The rooms were great, with a big balcony overlooking a garden lake. The facilities were good too. For a resort of this standard the price was reasonable which is a bonus.

we just returned from our 6 nights stay in Ramayana and i can hardly think of something we didnt like. We initially only booked 2 nights as we thought we will try some other places as well but it turned to be just the best the island has to offer. we booked the hotel through agoda which has got by far the best price - 30 pounds per night and really loved it. Very quiet, amazing pool and jacuzzi, lovely decorated and comfortable rooms (dont go for the suite, there is not much difference in facillities to justife the price). the only bonus is DVD player and if you dont have your own dvds you wouldnt use it as the hotels library is very limited and fourposter bed which is lovely but we didnt think it was worth another 15 pounds on top. The staff is super nice, they have gone the extra twenty miles for us. Breakfast gets a bit boring after while but thats everywhere. Although the resort is not on the beach, it runs free shuttle every hour to their sister hotel which has got one of the nicest beaches on the island (Lonely beach is not nice no matter what you hear - really smelly and dirty) and you can use all their facilities as well. It only takes 5 min and it is walkable as well although it gets very hot ;-) Massages by the pool are heaven, the people really know what their doing and its the same price as everywhere else. They also run shuttle at 9pm to whitesand beach and pick you up at 10.30 if you go just for dinner or you can take taxi back if you want to party which costs only 100 baht. We would recommend this place to everyone.

The hotel was beautiful. The garden just like heaven. The staffs were super nice, polite and very helpful. The room was beautiful. There is a DVD player in the room as well. The breakfast buffet was great. The food at the restaurant was okay. Service was too slow. The location is too far from the beach. If you like some peace and quiet, this is the place for you. Totally recommend the massage. There were two massage places. One is in Thai style house. They open till late at night. The second one is by the pool. They close at 6 PM but the price is half from the other. Then we went on a little tour to see fireflies. It was pretty cool and scary at the same time. It was awesome to see the fireflies all over the trees just like the lights on the christmas trees.

stayed there for 4 nights during the new years december 2006 period and being the first time, I was quiet anxious out the place. The hotel was great and the facilities are very good. the staff are very good and always ready to help. though this hotel is not beachfront , they do have a private beach located about a 5 -7 minute drive from hotel and the water is excellent. Since they have shuttles every hour, we really did not feel any loss of time. The rooms are very good size with all the required ameneties.
