First, I should mention, I had an issue with Asia rooms about the booking. Reception sorted it out and upgraded our room as a compromise, no messing or quibbing. Super, that kicked off a great stay for us.
Our room was lovely, with a balcony looking into the beautifully landscaped garden. Just a stones throw to the Pool/Jakuzzi area, where we spent a lot of time.
Service was always attentive and friendly. There was a playground for our son, a gym for me and a spa for the wife. Any tour we wanted, like the elephant ride and the snorkelling trip to the Island was organised by the office and we took advantage of the shuttle to the beach or jumped off at the shops.
We ate at the restaurant, which was always popular, with excellent food and live music at very reasonable rates, especially compared to the beach restos. Nearby, on the river is the excellent Phu-talay resto, which offers a free boat ride to see the fire flies after dinner. Our son loved it!
My only small moan was breakfast: The international breakfast/bread and juice was all of poor quality. Having said that, the fresh fruit/cereal/eggs/salad bar and Thai food was great, so no need to go hungry. Coffee varied between just dinkable and drinkable!
Overall we had a wonderful stay in this lovely resort, very relaxing. Great value for money!
Many thanks to the excellent staff and management.

Booked in for one night initially and ended up staying for five.
Spacious , clean and airy rooms all with their own balconies with plenty of privacy, and surrounded by lush gardens and delightful water features. Lovely poolside to relax by with the option of hourly shuttle from 9.00am until 5.00pm (last return 6.00pm) to sister hotel's beachside terrace. Breakfast buffet - everything you needed, with friendly and welcoming staff on front desks, poolside cafe and restaurants - room service did great job with the towel decorations ! Restaurant had good choice of food at very economical prices and mini bar was in line with seven eleven so no need to venture far.
If you're looking for somewhere quiet to relax and kick back, with no interruptions apart form sounds of crickets and geckos this is the one for you, with added bonus of the option to indulge in sister hotel's beachside facilities .
Keep up the excellent work.

Me and my partner stayed in the Ramayana for a 2 week holiday. It was a great experience from the minute we arrived until the minute we left. The hotel is in an ideal location for exploring the island, although it is not on a beach. We hired a pick up, so we could drive everywhere we wanted to explore, however the whole island is well serviced by stop and pick up taxi's, which you would never have to wait long for. The hotel has a sister hotel which is on the beach, and a free hourly shuttle bus to the sister hotel, which is only 10 minutes or so away. The sister hotel is lovely too, so be sure and take them up on the free service. Our room was clean and well equipped, and overlooked the tropical gardens that surround the beautiful swimming pool in the centre of the hotel grounds. The cleaners provided us with different towel art daily! I had clothes laundered by the hotel, which was done excellently, and for only a minimal chage too. The bed was comfortable. The staff, without exception were a delight, and would help us at every opportunity. The food was a bit of a mixed affair though. the european breakfast wasn't great, mainly due to the ingredients not being of a very high standard. But the thai food was some of the best we ate on the island. The seafood thom kah kai was amazing. I did have one european meal there one night which again wasn't great, but we were more than happy to stick to the thai food pretty much for the 2 weeks while on the island. There is a spa and a gym at the hotel that we didn't get round to using, but I did take advantage of the poolside massage, which was a joy.
My only gripes with the place were that:
1/We were woken quite early by the noisey family next door.
2/ We were charged a fee for the internet (this is a problem I have where ever I travel in the world, and just think that this sevice should be free nowadays. it seems a bit penny pinching to me when hotels are already being paid hansomely by their guests, and more and more hotels are not charging for this service).
3/ We were charged for a local call by the hotel for them to contact our pick up bus for when we left. This only ammounted to a few pennies, but again seemed to be penny pinching.
Those small complaints aside I couldn't recommend this hotel enough, and i look forward to returning there very soon. A very affordable piece of paradise!

Myself anda friend stayed here for a few days in the middle of June at the quietest time for many years in Thailand. We were very impressed from start to finish with the attentiveness from the staff to the quality of accomodation and the food in the restaurant.
Due to the time of year and domestic troubles we recieved a great deal directly through the hotel and was impressed by the inclusive breakfast.
Although the location of the hotel I can see being a hinderence to some travellers, it was ideal for us as very quiet and surrounded by beautiful grounds. As you can you the facilities of the sister 'Dewa' resort, which is newer and quite posh, this really was a fantastic stay. I would highly reccomend this to anyone with transport or just wanting to get away from it all.

This is a great place if you don't mind that it is not a beach hotel. The room I got has a beautiful view of the tropical garden and a pond which was very relaxing. There were ones that have mountain view and swimming pool view too. Food there was pretty good, but I don't recommend ordering the room service because the price was double. I did ordered though, and that's why I got some problem with a waiter. He made a mistake with the order, and he did not solve it for me because he said the kitchen was closed and the account was also closed. So, I had to take that wrong order when I did not want to. This is a small problem that he could have stated in a better way to make me happy about the service, but he did not. Almost the rest of the staff was very good and quite professional. It seems to me that staff there had different level of experience. They also have a lovely-decorated spa. The surroundings were nice especially the waiting area and the jacuzzi rooms.

A lovely quiet hotel. Landscaped grounds with pool. Free bus to sister coastal hotel or waterfall. Local seafood restaurants nearby. Take the hotel Island tour, good value and you get to see the Eastern side. Staff very helpful and charming.

Fantastic staff and service. They go out of there way to make your stay a good one. The pool area and gardens are beautiful. Although not near a beach there is regular free transport. The location made us explore more of the island than we would of at a beach resort. Elephant ride and island snorkelling were amazing expriences.

Overall, it was such beatiful and relaxing resort. I arrrived a bit late at the spa, but the nice ladies gave me a 1-hour massage anyways. The staff at the front lobby were absolutely wonderful and truly helpful. There are also daily activities, free shuttles to various places, and overall I was so impressed with their service to tourists and visitors. What I didn't like was the restaurant staff. They were pushy in trying to get us to order certain things, and it took us 15 minutes to get just a drink menu. I had to ask them three times for a drink menu. The food took almost an hour to come out, even though it was pretty empty. I didn't like the singer there, and they put her music on too loud. When there aren't huge crowds, they should turn the music down just a bit. The three huge roaches were a definite turn off. They were all hiding under the vanity/desk area, and I know they were there even before we got to the room, which means the cleaning staff didn't realize that roaches would be festering in dark places. In sum, the restaurant was a downer, all other services were pluses.
• Liked — The staff at the front desk are extremely helfpul, kind, and were the best part about the hotel. The free fitness center and the spa were definitely pluses. The resort itself really seemed a private, forested island where the rest of Koh chang's roads and cars disappear.
• Disliked — We killed three huge cocaroaches during our two-day stay at the resort. They definitely need to address that.
• Tips/Secrets — The island hopping was absolutely amazing. The bluest beaches and cool snorkeling experience. You can book through travel agencies anywhere around koh chang, and they aren't so expensive and worth the money. Althought, the elephants on the island seemed to be kind of abused. We went elephant trekking and we found our elephant's forehead had calloused holes all over his forehead from the elephant trainers metal staff. We understood why when he stuck the pick into the elephant head when the elephant stopped (to relieve herself), making her bleed. It was so cruel. I recommend you don't ride the elephants and support such a thing if that is a concern to you. I regret paying them money to torture elephants.

stayed here over new year, staff were exceptional and really showed their worth with the show they put on for NYE. The previous comments on here about food are true - it is great, the rooms are clean and comfortable and private and the whole setting of the place and layout of the grounds is what makes it. Followed the advice of someone else on here who suggested taking the hire bikes at B200 a day. The sister hotel with its pool and private beach is even better and worth a visit too, where you can get free towels and courtesy shuttle.
• Liked — rooms and their balconies; food; pool; grounds
• Disliked — nothing really
